New Orleans native Samantha Stormo has worked in marketing and events production for eleven years. Her résumé includes promotional work and acclaim for her writing, all from a very young age. At sixteen, she was named the Assistant Special Events Coordinator for J.C.Penney’s Southeastern region and traveled with her mentor coordinating fashion shows, photo shoots and charity events. After winning several journalism awards for her sports and feature writing, she was compelled to pursue a future in public relations. Accepted to an elite mentorship program as a senior in high school, Samantha became a working intern as Publicity Director for Fashion Café New Orleans, coordinating nightly events, shows and generating a solid buzz for the restaurant and for herself.

While attending Louisiana State University on scholarship for her young achievements, Samantha continued to follow her passion for writing, and was published in the Southern Literary Review and contributed on a textbook, Understanding Textiles, while she worked towards two degrees. Her talent landed her two field study programs through her home university: the first, a fashion study in collaboration with the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, she cased Hugo Boss, Geoffrey Beene and several other respected designers. The second study was a yearlong program with acclaimed public relations professor Bill Adams at Florida International University, landing Samantha in Miami.

Instantly in love with the Latin culture, tropical climate and the vast opportunity of a very young city, Samantha completed the study and decided to make Miami her new locale. Loving the South Florida sun, Samantha worked small promotional jobs with clients including Big red, Jose Cuervo and Zig Zag Cigarettes. Soon after, she was hired by nightlife impresario Rudolph Piper as his assistant in his latest venture, Nerve.

Samantha worked aggressively through the ranks passing out handbills and working the door, to hosting occasional events and finally to Marketing Director for the club, quickly learning the eccentricities of South Beach nightlife. By the end of her two years, Samantha expanded her résumé to include hosting events with some of the top talent in electronic music from across the globe, including John Digweed, Satoshi Tomie, Tony Humphries and Frankie Knuckles. In May 2004, Samantha was recruited to join The Marlin team as Director of Operations & Marketing. Formerly owned and operated by Palm Pictures / Island Records mogul Chris Blackwell, The Marlin enjoys a longstanding reputation as the premier music destination in Miami’s South Beach. After the sale of the property to New York based Palm Resorts Group, Samantha was hired to recreate the magic of South Beach in the early nineties for the historic property. Samantha spearheaded the $1.5 million renovation of the landmark and was instrumental in creating the new restaurant concept for Rex, a 60-seat tropical American brasserie. Over the next three years, Samantha debuted some of the most popular weekly events to hit the beach and produced dozens of high-profile special events that spawned huge hype for The Marlin. Working with revered names in electronic music from Tommie Sunshine, Harvey and Moodyman, to top magazines like Tokion, Blackbook and Index, to notable artists Jose Parla, Doze Green and Christian Mendoza and to amazing live acts Tortured Soul and Living Things, Samantha’s production experience continued to grow tremendously.

Currently, Samantha is pursuing a freelance career in marketing and events production and contracts with several local and national clients in a variety of capacities from production to interactive marketing, field marketing and publicity. Recently she has worked on Jaguar’s X Type Drive Program, Belvedere’s The Beautiful Life, the Chivas Regal Chivas Studio Miami event series. Most recently she has found a home with the EventJoe team taking over the Chicago operation.
